Just spray it on and it self assembles into an antenna.

I was guessing that it used some kind of conductive block copolymer. A strip of it oscillates when connected to an ohm meter.

I suggested that they use RF coupling strength feedback to adjust the structures while they are still plastic. Perhaps an improved antenna could result if the physical structure could be modified while operating as a proto-antenna. They are going to give it a try.

  1. ‘Self assembles into a transmitter’ – you can’t just post that much and not tell us more, come on!

  2. I seriously have a use for this — check your dfj email.

  3. The use is not a multi-mode QR-code print that also is a RFID antenna, but that does come to mind. RFID and this stuff would bring a whole new meaning to graffiti tagging!

  4. Spook projects… they won’t tell all….

    They also sell RF Jammers

    "Details:
    Jams full spectrum of:
    GPS
    GSM
    CDMA
    WIFI
    ALL wireless cameras
    Wireless audio links

  5. I don’t understand. What Im reading is that it is conductive along polymer chains but those dont line up on large scales unless stressed.. So what does the conduction path look like?

  6. Might it be a capacitive antenna? Wondering if the resonant mode on the ohm meter is a clue….

Ordered at a very small scale, or even fractal-like, perhaps

  8. @jurvetson – I interviewed Chematech’s founder and CTO for WSJ.com’s venture capital blog today. They couldn’t go into the "secret sauce" recipe details but… hope this is valuable. Thank you for the CC photo, as ever.

  9. You car is screaming wash me please!

  10. Ah!Ah! very funny, people believe in what-so-ever. M. Maxwell is turning himself with horror in his grave… This is a complete hoax and has NO chance of working. I work and developpe all kind of antenna in 40 years but this is a no exist antenna. You can make an antenna with quite everything, but the efficiency will be very low compared to real antenna system. Period.
