surfing into the new year… A clear sign from above that it’s time to open the Mavericks surf contest window, which they did.

The weather has been so peculiar; the January Snow Ranch rocket launch was cancelled due to “fire danger”. Normally, it’s too muddy in Winter.

  3. This is a perfect omen for good surf! Nice shot.

  4. Very pretty surf looking cloud. Awesome power-shot 🙂

  5. 2012 rollin" in……. we’re doomed !! 🙂

  6. i have just remembered looking at the same exact cloud about probably the same time and driving – i really wanted to pull my phone camera but there was no way from the car to capture the full majestic view with my camera anyway… interesting – wonder how many people took pictures at the same time…

  7. Michael La Guardia here. I saw that same cloud, and wondered if it was a Roll Cloud (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcus_cloud). It extended for well over 20 miles, and there was a clear break in the weather delineated by the cloud.

  8. wow, fantastic, i did not know about Roll clouds… this one was one of the most unusual clouds i have ever seen… and huge… i saw it from a different angle though.
