   "Howler monkeys are widely considered to be the loudest land animal. According to Guinness Book of World Records, their vocalizations can be heard clearly for 20 miles (32 km)."

   "As their name suggests, vocal communication forms an important part of their social behavior. They have an enlarged hyoid bone which helps them make their loud vocalizations. The main vocals consist of loud, deep guttural growls or howls." (wikipedia)

   When they get a bit older, they ride on the back
   

   This juvenile fell out of the tree and struck his chin, stunned by his fall. The troop watched intently to see what the humans below would do.

   we used to woken up by Howlers during the summers in Bristol UK. A great sound from the zoo 🙂

   how nice 🙂

   i grew up surrounded by langurs in the town of Mount Abu.
   when i lived there Sarah Hrdy, a young PhD student from Harvard, was tracking them around town.
   she later published a book – The Langurs of Abu.

   and one of the town’s folk performed a citizen’s arrest on a student from Oxford.
   he was leaving town with a baby langur stuffed in his backpack.
