As the oldest game show still in production (having debuted in 1964), it is still a cash cow for Sony Pictures, and an untouchable fixture in the Sony studio sound stages.

More below on this chance encounter.

  1. I thought the forbidding door was interesting for a photo:

    Winning!

  2. One of the grand-daddies of the Canadian Invasion. Mary Pickford, Alex Trebek, Lorne Greene, Dan Akroyd, Donald Sutherland, James Doohan, William Shatner, Jim Carrey, Keannu Reaves, Carrie Anne Moss, Leslie Neilsen, Martin Short, Pam Anderson. And that Bieber kid. And a whole lot more. Canada trades entertainment folk for US draft dodgers. Not sure who wins in that trade. Did you talk about the Old Country with him?

  3. Damn. Now I can’t get that bloody theme song out of my head.

  4. Naah… it’s just funny money. David Knight on my right is less happy with his stack. =)
He just gave me a pre-screening of some amazing 4K 3D footage he got up close of the most recent Falcon9 and Shuttle launches (example of his access).

  5. cool, funny about the closet set:)

  6. cool! I’m a big fan myself. I record it every day.

  7. Tu es partout, Steve! (You are everywhere. )

That is quite a different experience! Perfect for you who knows a lot of trivia and who is fast!

So, where you just touring the set or actually practising for a real show? I assume you were simply getting the experience while visiting.

  8. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/imager] The list is extremely long, much longer than most people can imagine. We Canadians have always been important contributors to the entertainment industry.

  9. Mimosa! I was just thinking of you and actually wrote a note to send you some Holiday Cheer, and here you are. It’s like telepathy! =)

I was just passing through on the way to the plane (I was in L.A. to visit the Tesla Design Studio, and I added on a visit to SpaceX and Sony while in town). The peek inside was pure chance from a kind gatekeeper.

O Canada! Birthplace of flickr, need we say more? Canada was the country that welcomed many immigrants fleeing their homelands, like my parents and Elon Musk. I meet another Canadian next month – James Cameron.

Ah, yes. Our esteemed prime minister cancelled the Avro Arrow fighter jet program (Advanced fly-by-wire (with vacuum tubes!) and haptic feedback). So all that leading edge aerospace engineering talent fled south. A dark time for Canadian aerospace that probably ended better overall — the Arrow would have annoyed Washington, and Apollo was arguably better for Man than another fighter jet..

  11. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/jurvetson] About the visit on the Jeopardy set: oops, I read all except the line I missed where you explained how you got in. That explains my questions.

Steve, I am always here, albeit often silently. You no doubt sensed that I was looking at your temporarily transformed office before commenting here. :-))

I got no Holiday note yet but I just sent you one. There is a puzzle included. I hope you will try it.
