  1. If you won’t let me log in to your Paypal account, how on earth do you expect me to transfer the funds being held in escrow for you at Chartered Bank of Lagos? My late brother (of blessed memory, he was in the oil business) left specific instructions to transfer these funds into your safekeeping on condition it occur before end-of-year. Please expedite username and password forthwith. Time is running.

  2. man in the middle attack? in other words, I should be real wary of evil gangs composed of at least 3 people, or other odd numbers?

  4. I think my favorite is the phone number that is one numeral short haha. The sad thing is this could fool comatose less than observant person in the cyber universe. I really hope not though. Do they think they will make millions with this stuff?

    could be a virus, be aware… this is what Misha Glenny talked about in one of his books on evil mafias and cyber attacks… here we go.

  6. That’s one of the better ones!-) I’ve collected dozens of similar, mostly from Nigeria – maybe they’ll make a good book someday 😉 Some are truly inventive, almost deserving of Venture Capital!!.

  8. It’s weird. I had exactly this email, went through the process as they requested and then my bank account was drained. Still not worked out what happened.

  9. My favourite is when they call you to say they have detected malicious activity on your computer and they just need you to get online and give them remote access to find the problem.
    Ofcourse, I always jump online, but we have dial up, so I have no idea what the next instructions are.

  12. It does not take much intelligence to know this is not legitimate. One would think that if you bother to create such a letter a little bit more effort would make the email believable. All of this is quite funny and sad.
