This particular company is very creative in their efficient use of all available lab space.

(I’ll keep this anonymous for now, and save it for their IPO slide show =)

  1. I was wondering when you would show us another toilet!
    Cell dive in toilet!
    Toilet flight!
And a refrigerator and a…what is that large thing, is that some type of lab freezer? Oh, I see a small freezer on top of the refrigerator. This room is large enough for a small kitchen so where is the sink? You need to be able to heat-up your meal so where is the microwave oven? What about the coffeemaker? You have to have coffee to start the day!

All joking aside, the room was used quite efficiently!

  2. Fridge isn’t close enough to the toilet. You’d have to get up to have a snack! I imagine the chair is there so that someone can ready you a story while you are doing your business?? I imagine a new startup company "Stalls with Flavor"….a fridge with every commode. Gives new meaning to the Charmin gingle, "enjoy the move." Now if they can just run that fridge with a solar panel on the roof, they could appeal to the conservationists.

  3. That "fridge" is a low-temp (-30C) freezer. Your snack would be Häagen-Dazs, and would be too hard to eat. That chest freezer is an ultra-low temp (-80C) freezer. They draw 10-20 kWh/day. Even in sunny California you’ll need a solar array around 40 square meters in size for that freezer alone, plus another 40 square meters to run the air conditioner to get rid of its waste heat.

I bet that restroom is nice and toasty though.

  4. Right you are! There is a sign on the door: "Don’t close door" since the room would overheat otherwise….

Again the toilet use case is relegated to a distant afterthought.

    -1 social skills

  7. Heh, capital efficiency is a smart idea in any economy, but especially this one.
