I hope she remembers with fondness her little massage by the President.

  1. Oh, that is such a wonderful moment that your children will love to remember forever! A great portrait! Now you must start a new photo album to also get signed.

Steve, you have lovely children, each with dimples I notice! Watch out, your son is going to outsmart you in many ways. ;-))

  2. Oh you are so right. I learned today that he will be taking the AP Calculus test this year! And he already does recursive programming in Java and C++ (which I did not learn until college).

And spooky guess on the photo album. We brought our Obama photo album and he signed it Barack Obama boldly across the opening page.

  3. What a great memory for you and your kids! Your children look like bright and shiny people. Well done.

  4. It was not a spooky guess as I recalled you saying that about signing the album you had made of all photos you took of Obama. I do see all your photos even if I do not comment.

What, calculus, Java and C++! Those are college courses! Your son will be so knowledgeable! You will have to take classes just to catch up and help him in his homework!

  5. Some people try for an entire lifetime to have a handshake from a sitting U.S. President. You seem to be able to have one on ones with him with quite frequency. Do you pay for the chances? There are those that have and those that have not. I think the readers can tell what I am. Ashamed, not a bit! Jealous, you better believe it!

  6. Now we have to pay to shake your kids hands, touched by the President! 🙂

  7. Vas, that is so very funny!

Now, you know where to make the contributions.

  8. killing with cuteness, the girl will be future president of the united states:)

  9. Looking through my contacts’ photos I thought this was in Obama’s photostream but I click through to realize it’s a different context. Cool photo op

  10. Steve, I was thinking about this. You could use this occasion with the help of photos to remind and inspire both your daughter and your son that anything is possible!

  11. OK smartypants. How are you going to one-up yourself now?

Seriously though, what an honor. Congratulations. Your kids will have stories to tell about their youth! May the rest of their lives be at least as wonderful.

  12. Exceptional experience, 😀

  13. Wow, now that’s a photo to be proud of! I’d be pleased to vote tomorrow so he can get on with the important business at hand.

I also recall programming in C++ in University and remember one particular all nighter after which I vowed I’d never compile another line of code again.

  14. Should tell all parents to follow your photostream for inspiration. A few weeks ago after you shared your kid’s photo in SLAC, I took mine there for a tour, and broadcasted to my circles to sign up for the tour. Many thanks for sharing !!!

    Some Chinese sayings:
    (1) 青出于蓝而胜于蓝 ( qīng chū yú lán ér shèng yú lán )
    (2) 冰出于水而寒于水
    (3) 雏凤清于老凤声
They have similar meaning. The student surpasses the teacher. The son surpasses the father.

  15. That’s going to be useful for all those ice-breaking sessions where you have to say something interesting about yourself:
"I once got a massage from President Obama" hehe

And calculus AND programming? Wow, I’ve never done any programming for an academic course and I got to the first year of an engineering undergrad degree!

  16. Wonderful smiles. Always astounded at how some children can appear to be clones of their parents. You and your son are a study in genetics!

  17. Everyone is so youthful too, even the kids.
I am pondering who the most antithetical PS head overlay for Obama merge would be here:
    #1 The Pope
    #2 TX gov Rick Perry
    #3 AeroSmith’s Joe Perry
    #4 #5 a tie: Sarah Palin/Newt Gingrich

  18. you missed cheney/gwb

obama too has undeniably demonstrated that the life of a US citizen is at his pleasure and can be taken simply by executive decree.
no probable cause, charge, public evidence or conviction required.
    and no fear of accountability.

    it cannot be denied.
and that is a true lesson in civics.

  19. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/scleroplex] Good points but Cheney/GWB/GHWB/Rumsfeld just are not Religious enough. Joe Perry does not meet the religious standard but his referential proximity to Rick Perry was too great to ignore.
Regardless, SJ is indeed a fortunate guy to have such a nice family – with or without Obama.
Notice I did not say SJ is blessed with a nice family. That would be irrational. Fortune is ok as long as it does not come from any anachronistic notions of providence.

  20. =)

    you are learning, young Padawan

  21. Looks like another chapter to add to the Dubya "wedgie" story!

  22. woulda, coulda, shouda

    Oval Office

  23. Low chance of sucess. GW is quick and agile like a monkey. Just review that Iraq shoe thrower video. The best you could have done is a barf grasp like his dad did with the Japanese PM.

  24. I also have to say that that’s a very lifelike cardboard cutout…of Steve!
