Prepping for a launch event in the desert. So many things have to be configured just right. These are ready to go with fresh batteries; next step, CO2 cartridge connections and RF tracking transmitters.

Those are all G-Wiz flight computers. Will annotate above.

  1. This might make a good Duracell commercial…
    Looking forward to the flights.

  2. Rockets are cool, your kids are lucky:)

  3. Looks like a G-Wiz commercial!!! I have an HCX (as one of my seven altimeters). Love it though!

  4. Steve J, thought you might like this fantastic shot of a rocket nozzle by Mikiya Takimoto from the series ‘Land’ and ‘Space,’ showing now at MA2 Gallery in Tokyo’s Ebisu district…took two years and 4 trips to the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida to make…

  5. Right you are! Gorgeous color. Did you see an explanation for why it took 2 years? Lots of failed attempts? Artistic procrastination? Perfectionism? Waiting for perfect light indoors? =) Or some cool compositing effort?

    I just went and took a picture…. =)

    Go Baby Go

I also like the artistic angle… I tried something similar with the Apollo RL-10 engine in the office:

  6. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/jurvetson] I think text above reflects the gallery owner’s marketing twist…rephrase as "the entire series involved 4 trips to Kennedy over 2 years." The series included shuttle launch photos etc that may have required extra travel…or maybe he just likes going there a lot 😉 Here’s a page on the gallery site showing more of the series…the nozzle photo is IMO far and away best of show… http://www.ma2gallery.com/current.html

  7. Yep, cool blue color and whatever time it takes to turn a rocket into a warp drive:D sj office warp drive looks also cool, less groomed and more charming!

  8. Oh that’s clever! Raw circuits are so yummy

  9. brain food puzzle or something… good one, vennetaj – bring some last summer memories:)

  10. Another cool rocket nozzle photo (this one I don’t have source for): s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr.com/tumblr_lonn4vos391qim2s9…
