    I had not heard of the Buran program. Ironically the one Buran prototype was destroyed on 12 May 2002, when the hangar housing the Buran in Kazakhstan collapsed, due to poor maintenance (wikipedia).

    Ya…I read that too…sort of sad…
    They were also trying to buld a second carrier airplane….gave up a few years ago…lack of $$
    The Buran design looks like a case of 100% industrial espionage ….
    (not that this is not a bilateral pastime…)
