Probably the heaviest rocket of the weekend, punching in at 55 lbs., my Sledgehammer looms 9 ft. tall (as does the flame here!), with multiple cameras on rocket and ground. This one is from the DSLR as I tracked the flight; click it to enlarge.

The GLR Sledgehammer rocket uses honeycomb nomex wings under fiberglass. I added a video bay, HCX and LCX flight computers, a RouseTech gas cartridge parachute deployment system and a RF tracking beacon.

She had a perfect flight at Dairy Aire 2011 in Helm, California on a Cesaroni L1410 75mm Skidmark motor from Canada. The sparks come from titanium sponge mixed in the propellant, and she put on quite a show.

Prior flights have been the M1675 Pink, M1850 White, M1550 Redline, M1500 Mojave Green, and M1315W for my L3 Cert.

    If I had seen sparks like that a few weeks ago at Kennedy, I would have freaked out.
