At their headquarters in Oakland, a model from three years ago, when the Ivanpah solar thermal power station was just a dream.

Today, it is the largest solar plant under construction in the world.

  2. Much like the Stirling engine it’s an exquisitely simple idea. The biggest challenge in the US is efficient transmission of electricity from the desert to population centers.

  6. yes, Bill is very sour on all forms of solar. He prefers new nuclear. Germany’s recent decision to retire their nuclear plants and try to replace them with solar and wind must irritate his sense of economics.

    @gsikich1 – the algae project is coming along just swimingly. =)
