Drop me in the water, water
—Talking Heads

Came upon a CNG truck full of Indian youth going to the river to dissolve their clay idol in the water. She is meant to be some water goddess, and they are clearly excited… Well, at least when they see my camera come out.

By now, I don’t even notice the spray paint detailing.

  1. thanks. This goddess of knowledge, music and the arts is Saraswati and the celebration is called Saraswati Puja.

"Saraswati is symbol of knowledge; its flow (or growth) is like a river and knowledge is supremely alluring, like a beautiful woman."

  2. Nice to see that the truck runs on CNG and not diesel. (Fun video too!)

  3. Yeah, and all the taxis and auto-rickshaws in Delhi are on CNG. The air pollution was getting bad as they have more cars there than Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai combined.

@vennettaj: Squint, and you see her…

    Under the Milky Way

    Feed the fabric of space?

  4. @vennettaj yep, attracted… to both knowledge and the fabric of space:) and happy indian dances:)

  5. decided too add something here, hope my Buddhist-Christian references was not taken too literally… although i have no problem to be atheist in my head but my heart is always searching for answers… and certain answers are in the land of personal intimate experiences, paradoxes and symbols… cannot be really pin pointed by words directly:) i guess i did not embrace any particular religion/philosophy entirely, tend to cherry pick or hunt for pearls:) I really do not have any idea how person can be an atheist in his or her heart.
I think I would die of a heart attack of a terrible emptiness in my heart and I would feel this way.
When everyone was atheist in former Soviet union where I grew up and always felt that there was something else… but never was a part of any church or religious group truly… climbing the mountain or flying or listening to music can be more meaningful experience than standing in the stuffy Orthodox church… so it all depends:) so I do not like to join anybody in worshiping anything… and hate fundamentalism in all its shapes and forms.

vennetaj – just wanted to stay on arts for art sake arena but something triggered this response from me…

  6. Take me to the river…
