  1. Wow! It is like a little performance… play for one actor… admire the scene and the pristine absolute while fluffiness of the bird… could be a symbol or an illustration if needed… very sharp beak… extremely narrow focus… forgive my non-native english…

  2. Intensity or Introspection? As the bird sees itself reflected in the water does it wonder about its life as a bird? Hmmm – could lead to intense discussion. Great capture of the calm water.

  3. Many birds can differentiate polarized light, so I’d bet that egret is definitely hunting something…

  4. [http://www.flickr.com/photos/26274943@N02/]: Mirror self-recognition -> Intense discussion indeed!

    [http://www.flickr.com/photos/posamentier/]: Brilliant! To see through the surface reflections. Another tidbit for my collection on bird vision

    [http://www.flickr.com/photos/solerena/]: and she gave quite a fascinating performance, one I had not noticed before. She chummed the water with one foot while remaining perched firmly with the other. It was a rapid up and down motion. I guessed that it was to shake up her prey, as the dance was usually punctuated by a rapid lunge of the beak spear.

    A hunting archetype… Shake-spear

  5. I think there is one thing on that birds mind…….DINNER!
