Having lunch with her again tomorrow.
Her inspirational TED Women talk on leadership went online…

Got questions for her?

  1. Imagine having an accent on top of being a woman 😉

More comments than I could ever make here…

  2. but… accents rock…

    make some….

  3. ahahahah

well, they have advantages, you know, guys love it…

  4. .:Hmm, Vennetaj- this is a revelation…. tell us more about it….:) I do have accent too…oh, working on it (wish could get rid of it)… her talk is great…can relate to it very well… there are no easy answers, attitudes in the workforce and kids need attention at home, mother cannot be replaced…. irreplaceable….and overall, she is a quality person… to learn from…great professional image….yep, women do have a chance….I personally feel we do….but not sure I have any questions about Facebook… I think someday it will sink….:D
oh, take one thing back: her image looks really great in the video…not so much in the picture above:)

  5. You can tell her she’s got nice boots. You can tell her I said so, as to not make it sound inappropriate. 😀

  6. Ask her if they’ve done a cost/benefit analysis of giving every Facebook user (as of a specific cut-off date in the future) 1 share in the company for every person in their friend network when they do the IPO. Sure they’ll be giving money away, but would the benefit to the company from increased activity/susceptibility to data mining/advertising sales outweigh this cost?

  7. we all have accents, don’t we?

her boots are nice… just a bit misplaced I think, something makes a crack to my eyes… the dress alright tho.

  8. thanks for the link to her talk!

  9. hey, boots are always de rigeur… =)

Interesting comment from Obama’s economic policy advisor over lunch today:
“The average standard of living in London went up 50% from the time of Pericles to 1820.

It went up another 50% in one lifespan from 1820 to 1865, and we saw the power of the Industrial Revolution.

And now, the standard of living goes up 50% every five years in China. That gives you a sense of how unprecedented it is.

But before we romanticize it too much, income inequality has also increased spectacularly in China.”

  10. How have they defined quality of living? per capita disposable income or is this one of those indices which rank Scandinavian countries overall at the top of the list.

  11. I assumed purely economic (probably with PPP) since it was said by an economist and the claim started way back before there were surveys or deep data…. But I’m not sure.

  12. on China, it’s hard to compare China to any other country, as the employees are provided with free housing & meals.

  13. Only for some, right? It’s an enticement to move from the rural farms to the city for many.

I have visited some of the free housing and meals… =)

Not sure how that differs from company towns, or why it makes comparisons impossible?

  14. Thanks for the photo. I used it on my article today: Why Sheryl Sandberg must resign: curt-rice.com/2012/02/06/why-facebooks-sheryl-sandberg-mu…

  15. Hi there,
I’m a journalist working in Italy for My Way Media’s monthly magazine Speak Up. We are running a travel piece on Sheryl Sandberg. We would like to use your photo here to illustrate the piece. Any chance of you giving us permission to use your photo?

As this is for a hard-copy, glossy magazine, we need high definition photographs to illustrate the article. Can you help us out?

We can’t pay for photographs, unfortunately, but we would definitely credit you and send a free copy of the relevant issue, and it might be a positive addition to your CV.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer,

John Rigg (jmrigg @ gmail .com)

Thanks as always for your CC licenses. I used this shot in a post we republished by Robert Siegel, here: venturebeat.com/2013/03/04/why-do-so-many-young-women-wan…

  17. I am almost done reading Sheryl Sandberg’s book "Lean In" and I am enjoying it!
