  1. We gonna rock down to Electric Avenue
with the other rays, this one in deeper water:

    Electric Ray 1

and a side view of the fellow above… I worried that the glowing spots conveyed a fully-charged state… =)
    Electric Ray 2

  2. Can shock you… in a good way:)

  3. "And then we’ll take you higher!". My uncle was the sound engineer on that album. Eddie Grant FTW!

  4. They’re kinda cute 🙂

  5. nice!
could you bring a voltmeter next time?

ever since that Steve Irwin incident with the stingray, i can’t help but cover my heart with a hand everytime i see these rays, even though i’ve swum with them too many times to remember.

  6. Note: this is a guitarfish. It can’t shock or sting you. Guitarfish are intermediate between sharks and rays. They have a ray-like head, whereas the tail is shark-like. Nice shot, and consider yourself lucky to have encountered these interesting fish.

  7. thanks! sure looks like one. Funny that they had diving ID cards with it labeled as an electric ray… and Google comes up with similar images

  8. i think the electric ones have rounded noses:
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_ray
Electric rays have a rounded pectoral disc with two moderately large rounded-angular (not pointed or hooked) dorsal fins

although the Australian Banjo Sharks look similar as well:

  9. I think Hawkfish knows his fish.

So is it a Fender electric Guitarfish?

  10. sounds poetic – guitarfish… will not shock you and will take you higher…:)
