Just finished the golden Vertical Assault (the tallest and supersonic-ready flier) and the Red Hot Squat (the stubby side of the spectrum, and the most likely to be unstable).

Also did some repair and repainting of the Purple Phoenix and scratch-built Epic Cluster rocket.

All of these have 54mm motor mounts; details above. Launch shots for the three flown birds:

  1. Oh, the kitty seems looking up – all the childhood with these rockets makes fluffy kitty almost an astronaut:) … will be first kitty on Mars!

  2. Here’s an idea for pencils!

  3. sol – kitty is looking up to the stars… and me on the floor above. That gold rocket is 7.3 feet tall.

  4. i love the way the sense of scale makes no sense… until kitty is absorbed … and then it makes sense! sweet!
btw… love the flame jobs. do you get the vinyl with the kits, or is it commissioned?

  5. All these unrelated items totally make an interesting image, especially from above! Hello, Kitty.

  6. 🙂 you and the stars..

  7. Rockets and the cat make for a purrrrfect combo!

  8. Took me a while to figure out that this was not a glass-topped table on the patio with some toy rockets displayed thereon. Plastic kits bought at the local hobby store no doubt, and glued together in an afternoon. Maybe an inch or so in diameter, one or two feet long maybe, that sort of thing. Most unlike SJ’s normal endeavors.

But the size of cat sounds a warning bell – and looking through this glass patio table, we don’t see the deck, instead we see a completely different kind of surface. Slow realization… aah…. 7.3 ft tall the man said…. aaah. Yes indeed.

  9. Nice collection of rockets, I like the Phoenix history in particular.

  10. thanks y’all. Keeper wanted to see what’s up, and I’m glad she did.

@Leino Olé yes, the laser-cut vinyl wraps are custom cut to the exact rocket diameter… but people out there on the Internet specialize in just that:
