WOUHOUUUUUUUU Finger crossed !!!! =)
Are you in Canaveral ?
T-10.. =) Exciting day, my first rocket launch from under the snow =) !!!
T-3 minutes… LOX loaded… terminal count launch
"SpaceX plans to launch its Dragon spacecraft into low-Earth orbit atop a Falcon 9 rocket. The Dragon capsule is expected to orbit the Earth at speeds greater than 17,000 miles per hour, reenter the Earth’s atmosphere, and land in the Pacific Ocean roughly 3 1/2 hours later. This will be the first attempt by a commercial company to recover a spacecraft reentering from low-Earth orbit. It is a feat performed by only 6 nations or government agencies: the United States, Russia, China, Japan, India, and the European Space Agency."
He DID it !!! (they) WOUHOUUUUUU AMAZING LAUNCH AND WORK !!!
ThanKs Elon for us !!!!! What a Spacialebeauty =)
… and buffering. Seem to me the on-board video-camera was damaged when Dragon separates from 2nd Stage.
Mr. Jurvetson, What resources were there for the recovery of the capsule? Was it private or was the Military used to track splashdown and recovery? SpaceX site is not updating the outcome on there site, thanks in advance.
Between cases so I could not watch but what a great accomplishment. Can’t wait to watch when I get home.
Me too!
Just released: "Today, SpaceX became the first commercial company in history to re-enter a spacecraft from low-Earth orbit.
SpaceX and NASA will have a post-mission press conference at 3:30 PM EST at the press site at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
Participants include:
Elon Musk, SpaceX CEO and CTO
Gwynne Shotwell, SpaceX President
Alan Lindenmoyer, NASA Commercial Crew and Cargo Program Manager
Watch it live at http://www.nasa.gov/ntv
Elon Musk’s recap of cool things:
"Restart of 2nd stage.
The second stage went to 11,000km with the shortie-skirt.
If people were in the capsule today, they would have had a very nice ride. 4.5g’s like an amusement park.
The next generation Dragon, the crew Dragon, we will be aiming for a propulsive landing with gear, like Eagle on the moon. The parachutes will be there for backup. You can literally land on a helipad, refuel and take off again.
Full reusability of the Falcon9 is important as well and something we will figure out over time.
Performance of the heat shield was spectacular. It barely noticed the reentry. Designed for Lunar and Mars reentry as well. We were able to test it for that today as an alternative to the Orion."
A secret payload + Monty Python…. Dying to know what it is !!!! =P
Hear that Steve :
To VC investing their money in Space X.. Don’ t complain with what I do if… I am not looking to make money as a final goal with Space X…But to help humanity to go beyond Earth, to become a Multi planetary civilisation and head for new Stars…
Love that guy !!!
"It’s just mind-blowingly awesome. It’s hard to be articulate when your mind’s blown – but in a very good way." Elon Musk
Impressive.
We aliens didn’t make it that good with private space travel but after many many years, I tell you. A great accomplishment. Now you will be able to visit us anytime soon! |-)
Kuddos!!!
