When Erik and I went into Vandenberg AFB to watch an Atlas V launch, we were down in the coastal fog, so dense that even the sound was muffled, and not even a glow could be seen. (Here we are)

I remember discussing our plans: next time, we take the hill.

Well, Rick Baldridge has done just that. Shot from the Santa Cruz mountains, this is 100 seconds of flight from 200 miles away of the NROL-41 spy satellite launch (National Reconnaissance Office)

  3. Used to live on Bear Creek Road at intersection of Skyline right there in the Santa Cruz Mountains (Los Gatos address).

  4. I’m going to the NPP launch tweetup at Vandenberg this week and am planning the photography… apart from checking out exif on these photos, do you or Erik have any suggestions? Forecast = mild, fog-killi Santa Ana. W00t!
