Woot! I don’t get many magazines, but this is one of them, and the July/August issue is sporting my photo and my rocket.

More photos of this maiden flight on a sparky AMW N2801 here and here and video.

This V-2.1 is currently en route to the Black Rock Desert in Nevada for its second launch later this month — this time on an Aerotech N2000, which will have a much longer burn.

And if it survives that, I am trying to obtain a discontinued giant — the Animal Motor Works N4000 Blue Baboon — from a reluctant seller.

  1. Congrats, Steve…..a cover shot of one of your great rocket shots.

Making the cover of any magazine is always a special recognition for a photographer.

Well done, Steve – no make that VERY well done.

  2. yeah, and I do a giddy little stutter gulp….

  3. Cool with the company logo ; )
Steve have you seen this photo ?

"Shuttle launch as seen by skydivers Large Photo [Holy Mother of Fucking Awesomeness] William Gibson.

Could be a cool idea for your next rocket shot ; )

  4. omg! What a sight…. and what a confluence of timing….. Just amazing…. but now wondering if it involved some photoshop?

We will be sporting multiple cameras this time, and I hope to arrange some chaser rockets for the big bird. For example, the Clotho rocket has 4 HD cameras covering 360°. At apogee, it will be filming Boston and Hawaii simultaneously.

  5. WTG on rocket, photo and cover! Looking forward to seeing this live. Man that’s a lot of junk flying outta that thang!
