The visitor count to my flickr pages just crossed 10 million.

I never would have imagined that so many people would find something interesting in this photoblog.

Merci y’all

  1. Congrats – good photos, interesting stuff and a candid look at different things. Congrats again!

  2. Congratulations! It could very well be because your stories are so much more interesting than ‘Entertainment Weekly’. Real celebrity encounters, TED gossip, thought provoking ideas,…. there’s a lot going on in your stream.

    You have unread emails, Steve!

I wonder if 10 mil is the highest view count for anyone on flickr. rebekka had 2 mill a coupla years back….

  3. i mirror vennettaj’s comment.
    🙂
    wow
    kudos

  4. Joined in 2004, now it makes sense, congrats on the traffic, I’m a geek too, so I’m in good company and I have only been in 1 country, USA! LOL
If you wish to share some of that traffic my way, I need some new contacts, I think you can spare them! My vote is a FLICKR ICON for you my friend, maybe a "PRO" account for life!.

  5. That’s a good number!

    Interesting it is, not "interestingness".
And your comment stream continues the discussion – great use of this site.

  6. Note to self – don’t bother sending him a Flickrmail if you’re sounding him out for an investment …

  7. Way to go, Steve!…confession, I’m still struggling to reach a million!…you’ve set a high bar…

  8. I bet all the ones with kittens get the most views.

  9. congratulations…i’m only 100.000 !!

  10. Congrats! Your erudite posts have been entertaining and illuminate so much about the physical and natural world. It’s also extremely interesting to see the scope of technology you encounter in your work. I hope you continue to find time to share your passions and keep this record of your experiences.

@Ramones – I think you will find Steve extremely responsive regardless of the mail count you see. It’s a modern day proxy akin to, "how does my business partner (or date) treat the waiter." Responsiveness seems to be a hallmark these days of A-list players. Btw, I’m reporting experience and not giving Steve undue credit!

  11. Enjoy and appreciate your photostream and insight. Congrats.

  12. heh – creative!

    Thanks y’all

Nils – I like to give the kittens a lot of views…. and it used to be embedded the early-flickr adult content warning:

If you’ve changed your mind about wanting to see this content, you can ESCAPE. TAKE ME TO THE KITTENS!

But alas, the top 10 of the 10 million were mostly geeky subjects – Microsoft, Google and weird stuff. Here is the Stats time capsule from today:
    Top 10 of 10 million

….. Last Thoughts. Last Thoughts should be on this list as my best photo, but it was accidentally deleted and reposted in some strange flickr purgatory

  13. Thanks for all the effort you put into the photoblog Steve, I’ve enjoyed it.

I’m guessing your top 100 photos probably represent 50% to 60% of your total individual photo views. Would be a curious statistical breakdown after all this time.

  14. As long as ‘Last Thoughts’ is not the last interesting image, or last thought provoking link!
    Congrats to you, Steve!

  15. Congrats, Steve! I know I can always fine an interesting shot from you when ever I log-in. And yes, Last Thoughts is an amazing shot!
    Cheers! – Rebecca

  16. WTG steve. Yeah, isn’t it funny which pictures get the most views? My most visited isn’t even a picture, and not even mine! Keep up the good work bud and thanks for getting me into this.

  17. Cool. There is lots of great information on your postings.

  18. Congtats! Some amazing images. Keep it up! …but, dude one word…"email"

  19. Congrats indeed !!!
But not surprising when you see all the interesting subjects, discoveries, curiosities and fun, each photos bring… Keep feeding our Brains !!!

And to celebrate it, we thought it would be a cool idea to ask all your viewers to donate 1 dollar every time they surf on your photos… … Yes they did !!!

    Spend it Flickrlywell =)

  20. Ha – better spend it like you stole it…. Just so happens that Erik gave me a one hundred trillion dollar note from the very same bank. I have it here at my side…

  21. =) Remind me of Juan Enriquez ‘s funny intro, at his opening-TED 2009 =)

  22. Fine photos, cute descriptions and bloggin comments.
The new paradigm for encyclopedia: The Jurvetpedia !
    Congrats a lot!

  23. Congratulations! I have also recently discovered a whole "galaxy" of pictures of yours with a strong gravitational pull:)

  24. We have all come to your photo blog via diverse avenues. Some it would seem that some know you personally while others have found you simply by chance. I think that most of us enjoy your sense of intrigue at the things that surround you every day. The diversity of your interests and knowledge are impressive , and you willingness to share them are heartfelt. Personally, I am somewhat jealous of your ability to carry your camera around all the time. In my line of work I would likely end up under the scrutiny of law. You continue to add a morsel of flavor to a daily meal of monotony. Keep our plates full!

  25. And may I add….we’ll keep your counters ticking!

  26. Congrats Steve, I also joined in 2004 but don’t have as many views. I first found your stream thanks to a picture from the space shuttle that someone at NASA had shared with you. I then saw many interesting things on your stream so I registered.

After several years, I feel like I know some parts of your personality, and I’m sure to say that when the time comes that I come up with my big great idea I know who I’ll turn to for funding 🙂

  27. well done, i felt relatively chuffed to get over the 1m mark!

(without reeling off all the great attributes that you exhibit day in, day out, that everyone already knows…) – thanks for the best photostream on here, for a wealth of nuggets and banter of all shades… always fascinating and always appreciated! 🙂

  28. Bravo…and well done!
