Had an offsite meeting in what may be the highest LEED-rated household in America.

Solar thermal feeds a resevoir that then feeds the radiant heating and blown air. Another 10K gallon cistern captures rainwater for summer irrigation. Inner walls are unpainted clay and outer walls are some kind of cement in foam blocks.

  2. Certainly impressive, but really just a parlor game until this can be made low-cost and low-maintenance enough to drive into the mass market.

  3. The bleeding edge. Difficult to get installed right and hard to get serviced when it fails. Builders are second only to the trades people they use in being slow to adopt new technology. The reason, it seldom works as promised. Well, at least for the last 200 years that has been proven, maybe this is different…
