I recall that when I was a child in the 50’s, my father had come home one evening from an epicurean shop in Montréal telling us he had eaten some chocolate-covered grasshoppers and aunts. Now once a year at the Insectarium, you can eat free a variety of dishes and snacks made with insects. I have not had the courage yet. Kudos to this lady, a vegetarian with guts!

Traditional DIY methods like alkaline hydrolysis are smelly and require e.g. a bathtub, saw, knife, pressure cooker and tens of gallons of lye.
The advantage of the chocolate method is that, unlike reactive chemicals, you can buy large quantities of the stuff at the local Costco without attracting the attention of nosy three-letter agencies.
Time to gather material to set up alemonadechocolate "cookie" stand, I guess.
