I put his National Medal of Science on display, awarded to him by Obama on Wednesday.

  1. Sweet.

The medal, no padding, how strange a design, the writing seems to overflow the available space… no?

  2. oh that’s pretty freaking sweet!

Seen on my Flickr home page. (?)

  3. That has to make for a better board meeting.

  4. First time I see Craig Venter with this kind of face expression, smile.
My brain interpret it as happiness proud and "like on a cloud" feeling =)

    Congrats !!!!!

    2008 ? How come =)

  5. Bush kinda forgot about the whole science thing…. Wouldn’t be prudent… 😉

  6. wow!

i heard mr. venter speak at the AMNH here in NYC a few years ago–about his work [sampling all those sea critters what he sucked up with that giant hoover]

  8. Very excellent, what an award!

  9. congrats! and here’s to science! 🙂

  10. Great shot. As someone mentioned above already , it is good to know that Craig can smile occasionally. Most of the pictures which get released to the media don’t show this emotion.

  11. Thanks for a nice picture of Dr. Venter. This is where I used it:
