A tradition that lives on long after the flight suits are passé.

The upper left is from STS-118 (a wonderful KSC tour and launch).

The New Space Race patch in the upper right was actually created by WIRED to photograph for their cover story.

And the bottom two are from orbital flight 4 and 5 of the Falcon1 rocket from SpaceX.

In my previous posts about SpaceX, I was a cheerleader on the sidelines. But I have recently joined their Board, and it’s very exciting to see from the inside… like history in the making…

  1. thanks! Will be working to finish a V2 I hope to launch later this month… need to debug the flight computers and test the deployment of three parachutes… should be fun!

  2. when I was young (around fourteen) I had bought all the firecrackers my money could by and packed all the powder in a Sanka coffee can hoping to create a rocket that would fly high in the sky. Glued some legs on the side of the can, put a six inches fuse sticking out from a tiny hole in the buttom, lit the fuse and ran away like a rabbit. What a disapointment when the can fell on it’s side and started to turn on itself like a top.
Seems you got a little further in this science.

Have a nice weekend and thank you for sharing your photos

  3. Not historically… Just started keeping them for the launches I have watched.

  4. I am a avid high power flyer and big SpaceX fan. Is there any way to get
    SpaceX misson patches ?
