Seeing who’s taller today. And then he stood on his toes. And I started jumping.

Interesting tidbit from Gavin Newsom (Mayor of San Francisco, running for Governor of California):

“The California Constitution is 8x larger than the U.S. Constitution. Only India’s is larger.”

“I strongly feel that one of the most important fixes for California is a two year budget cycle. We have a fractured process every year and nothing else gets done while we argue over the budget.”

“The goal should not be to fail more efficiently.”

“I do not favor an increase in the income tax. But look at the sales tax. Why does it apply to products and not services?”

  1. So great your expression… such a contagious authentic smile, made me smile too instantly.

Ponder: Has the budget problems in CA anything to do with it being the settlement, the pole, of most of the IT/Internet companies in the U.S.?

  2. good article in Fast Company about him too..

  3. Thanks. I’m not a fan. Did Romney come up? He would make a great CA governor.

  4. No, ’cause he’ll be running for President. But the lady to our right sure did:

    Mitt Romney & Meg Whitman

  5. Why did he take his tie off? Or did he not have one in the first place?

  6. Gavin Newsom says: “I do not favor an increase in the income tax. But look at the sales tax. Why does it apply to products and not services?” Spoken like the true CA liberal pol that he is….. Always more taxation, never restraint on spending… I guess he never heard of prop 13, term limits & the Gray Davis recall. Time for CA taxpayers to look at some additional restraints on these pols, no?

  7. Tax services? How about taxing ‘tax creators’ with the same expectations for tax payers? Its called ‘pay for performance’ and as in industry, the low performers (those who can’t LOWER Government costs) get the boot. Lets question the ‘necessity’ of more taxes in light of increased productivity expecations and stagnant wages for those from whom such money is supposed to come. In a world where intelligent effort makes computers 10X more powerful and cost 80% less, why can government and healthcare be trending the opposite way?
