A simple cable spool will fly straight as an arrow with a rocket motor.

I used an Aerotech G40 for this flight. Creates a lot of noise and not much altitude…

  2. Thx Ross for the link, wonderful!!!

    Btw, Apolo 11, the number… I don’t know the reason for it, but I’d loike to mention the nice coincidence that the Hexagram 11 of the I-Ching is Tai (Peace – Harmony), and talks about the union of Heaven and Earth. The comunion of the high and low in perfect harmony: 3 yin lines (earth, the receptive) over 3 yang lines (heaven, the creative) = "Heaven on Earth" or "Earth above Heaven".

    A time of peace in order with the Tao.

    "The great image says:
    Heaven and Earth unite: Eminence
    The ruler fashions and completes the Tao of Heaven and Earth
    He supports mutually with Heaven and Earth their order
    He stands by the commoners
    "

    "Heaven and earth unite: the image of PEACE.
    Thus the ruler
    Divides and completes the course of heaven and earth;
    He furthers and regulates the fights of heaven and earth,
    And so aids the people."

    "Heaven and earth are in contact and combine their influences, producing a time of universal flowering and prosperity. This stream of energy must be regulated by the ruler of men. it is done by a process of division. Thus men divide the uniform flow of time into the seasons, according to the succession of natural phenomena, and mark off infinite space by the points of the compass. In this way nature in its overwhelming profusion of phenomena is bounded and controlled. On the other hand, nature must be furthered in her productiveness. This is done by adjusting the products to the right time and the right place, which increases the natural yield. This controlling and furthering activity of man in his relation to nature is the work on nature that rewards him."

    I like the coincidence.

  3. Here is something else who’s going to fly…. ; )

    Jumping from an airplane is much too tame for Bob Maddox. He needs something a little more extreme. That’s why he plans to strap himself to a four-engine pulse jet rocket, ride it to around 25,000 feet and then jump off.
