  1. Oh, good, just "boys like the blinky." I was afraid I’d missed a puzzle … again!

  2. They told me that it drew about 300A! They pulled a special power box for it. Wheee!

  3. It probably draws that much power with everything on. Interestingly, the guy who built it said that on average it uses less energy than a typical house with Christmas lights – this is because of the duty cycle, where at any give point very few lights are on. Then again, the typical house doesn’t also have a couple of CPUs etc. managing the display.

  4. Blinkenlights, blinkenlights, blinking all the way…

  5. He said his neighbors asked him to stop showing it at home because it was attracting too much traffic at Xmas time to their block. So now it has been ‘relegated’ to a roving tech fair exhibit. It was built using more or less ‘off the shelf’ components, but just at a much larger scale than most are willing to go.

By the way, the picture captures the control equipment and only part of the exhibit. There were a lot more lights off to the sides.

  6. They sure had the worst music, though.

(This was my first Maker Faire! Loved it!)
