  1. Did you get a sensation of speed? I’ve not been on a zeppelin, but I remember in hot air balloons the movement was so slow that I actually found it a bit off-putting.

  2. That’s ridiculously cool. Have you read John McPhee’s "The Deltoid Pumpkin Seed"? Great book about airships.

    Oh, and beautiful photo, too!

  3. > Hovering over Apple

So, you had the gall of looking down on Apple from the vantage point of an antiquated piece of technology dubbed "NT" ?

  4. this is a great shot, love the upper vanishing point.

  5. Is that a linear accelerator in your photo, or are you just happy to see me?
    🙂

  6. Yes. 16mm straight out the back window.

    jim – not yet. thanks.

ideastoday – it can go a bit faster 30-60 knots i believe. I felt it mostly on takeoff and when pivoting. Otherwise peaceful and serene… Feeling hooked. I’ll be flying it again on Saturday to Monterey

  7. That’s surprisingly fast. From Wikipedia:

"Steve Fossett and Paul Stroehle set the current speed record for airships over a distance of one kilometer on Wednesday, October 27, 2004 in Friedrichshafen, Germany with a Zeppelin NT. The new world record was set to 111.8 km/h (69.5 mph or 60.4 knots), an improvement of 19 km/h."

  8. Heh, with the winds blowing along the coast these days, I bet we can beat that!
