  1. Well . . . lucky you! My husband and I want one so bad. It is a bit out of our price range though. Enjoy it!

  2. really is my dream card

  3. why no deliveries till 2011? ;-(

  4. Post more photos! I think it’s going to be a home run if they deliver it on time, at that price and don’t mess with the styling.

  5. What’s it use for motor retention?

  6. It looks nice. I wonder why anyone would need 7 seats in a small car but I suppose this was to satisfy a particular market (hopefully not for lots of children, lol). Looking forward to seeing more photos.

After seeing another photo in Flickr of an electric car at automobile show in Geneva, I thought of offering these links:
Tesla au Salon Auto à Genève and Brabus Tesla Roadster 0-2708.

  7. When the main guy in charge has a set of triplets and a set of twins you can see why it could end up with seating for 7.

The rear seats can fold down so it can carry very large objects. The rear window lifts up hatchback style. All the practicality of a station wagon with the good looks of a stylish sports sedan.

In case anyone didn’t notice, since it isn’t mentioned here, it is a 100% electric vehicle powered by batteries.

  8. A great link to more detail about the new Tesla S. I am sure Steve will add more.

  9. Yes. I got a bunch with a decent camera. Will post when I can. On phone now in San Diego.

Thanks for adding tags as I can’t with the Crackberry.

  10. I read elsewhere that Tesla was incredibly carefull not to have any leaks prior to the unveiling and that "designing the Model S at a high-security rocket facility helped with that".

Hah! The plot thickens! Steve sneaking off into the desert to play with rockets was all a ruse – a cover story… The truth will out!

  11. An electric "family" car!! WooHoo – now this one is exciting. Looking forward to more pics.

  12. I recognize that car. Amazing to watch history in the making…

  13. It looks like a creole of the Maserati Quattroporte, Citroën and Aston Martin design vernaculars. The result isn’t bad at all, though (^^;

  14. Nice whip!

I like the Quattroporte allusion von Holzhausen went for.

edit: whoops! Yes, what nhr said… =)

  15. Gosh, I was just wondering yesterday where one might be able to see one in person… it is a thing of beauty. Very elegant. It will be a HUGE winner, with the looks of the $120k Quattroporte at the price point of an Audi A5, and the everyday appeal of a family sedan. Very exciting car – totally hits the spot.

  16. Thanks! It was surreal.

Jitze: heh… The truth is out there. I did get a sneak peak of the Sedan on my last visit to SpaceX. They had it in the back of the facility in a special tent to shield it from possible photography.

camplejohn: I have now posted some of the pics from the decent camera, and updated this one.

Here’s the test drive video and commentary
    .

  17. Congratulations!

It’s beautiful and I bet it’s fast too.

You will find me on Valleywag.com, when I’m in a bad mood, commenting from time to time, but tend to stick to TechCrunch.com with my positive comments.

I’d like to see the Tesla and video it while in San Francisco for my online video show pop17.com (just sayin’) if you’d like to pass on the word…
