The stickers arrived. Woot! Commute lanes are now open, and I pollute less than a motorcycle. No tailpipe, and 100% solar.

I was worried that they might have restricted the commute lane program in California, but that’s just for hybrids.

  1. sweet sweet sweet ride bro. you have my dream car. when do i get a ride?

  2. are you ever worried about the actual range vs stated range, or is the battery indicator reliable enough that you really don’t have to worry about making it back home?

  3. I have never come close to running out, so I don’t think about the range any more.

  4. What a shame to have to put those stickers on such a nice car. California really should just have something like a window sticker or a special license plate.

  5. Must be a fun commute. I’ll watch for you passing on the left during rush hour!

  6. That G9 sure is a peach of a P&S.

  7. AAAARRRGHHH! Good for you though. I bought my Prius two days before the article that the had run out of the last batch of HOV stickers… and turns out we just barely missed the cutoff… so no sticker for Tom. Looking forward to your long term test results write up. Cheers, Tom

  8. Now that you’ve had it for a while, is the approval meter still at the top end?

  9. Very high woot-per-hour. And it really makes people freakishly friendly – meter maids, cops, new friends…

I was visiting Tesla yesterday. Flurry of new news:

  10. It’s a wonder the stickers stay on the car with that kind of acceleration.

  11. Are you going to the Model S unveiling down at SpaceX? I’m really looking forward to pictures and pricing.

  12. Yes, see you there. And I already have my check in for the first one…

Model S-1 has a nice symbolism to it….

  13. Hi, I’m an admin for a group called Anti Gravity, and we’d love to have this added to the group!

  14. What’s an S-1? Nice going on commuter lane hookup!

  15. The S-1 is the form you file with the SEC for an IPO. =)

  18. I assume when you say solar powered? that’s solar at your house? Have you had any cells installed on the boot/hood for charging on the go?

  19. correct – cells at home.

I have seen some cars with cells, but I think it’s more of a marketing statement as they only generate enough to keep some fans running, not to recharge the car.

  20. right – I wouldn’t think on such a small car, that cells would do much; except possibly power the radio or such; though if left for a few hours it could possibly give 1-5% juice to the batteries.

  21. I heard an interview with Henrik Fisker where he even admitted that if you left the Karma parked out in the sun for 2 weeks, the solar panels would charge the batteries enough to drive about 5 miles.
