He’s already reversing Bush policies on stem cell research and climate policy, and he just followed up on his Inaugural comments on cleantech by calling for independence from foreign oil (BBC).
I especially liked what he said during a breakfast I had with him:
“A whole generation got into math and science because of Apollo. The President has to talk about it in a way that has not been done recently. It’s a subtle thing. In the last several years, I have been shocked by the degree of anti-intellectualism that has been promulgated by the Bush Administration. He jokes about being a C student and says ‘I’m not big on science. I know what I think.’ Kids absorb that. I’d like to spend eight years extolling the importance of science and technology and problem solving and critical thinking.”
I also just noticed that California seems to be featured prominently in the posse closest to Obama during the inauguration…
Sure. All of my photos are free to use forever with a simple photo credit: photo by Jurvetson (flickr)
If it’s online somewhere, please have the credit line link to the flickr page.
Also, for my personal collection, would it be possible to email me a scan of the page where it appears? SteveJ@Boxbe.com I like to see where things end up.
