Driving through immigration into Shenzhen, China this morning… I noticed a new row of buttons to give feedback on the experience.

Your Evaluation, Pls
Perfect – Ok – Dissatisfied

Probably best not to push the red button while they still have your passport.

  1. If you’re in China on 11/4, I hope you voted before you left.

  2. Yes, I did… and I’ll be back to California for an election party… Need to get on the plane now…

  3. Fly safe! (And I hope the party celebrates an ELECTION and not just a campaign.)

  4. No worries, only the green button is actually hooked up. Either that or all the buttons count as a green button – they knew you really enjoyed the experience and you pushing that yellow or red button was just a mistake…

I don’t think they allow photos of immigration stations here in the US. Maybe China does have some freedoms we don’t…

  5. @David G: Very funny. Obviously these machines are made by the same people who make those "Push To Cross Street" buttons. They don’t actually have an effect on the traffic signals but they make you feel good about yourself for having tried.

  6. LOL – true that! Also the elevator people with the "close door" or "open door" buttons. Most don’t seem to effect the door, but redirect ones efforts into pushing the button…

  7. heh… I was wondering if photo taking was verboten… I figured that I’d have to take some shots to find out… subscribing to the tradition of forgiveness over permission photography…

    They sure had us covered:
