First seen in a canoe with her owner Lou, she is the first of three Missyplicity clones from Korea. Three moms were involved in her creation (Missy’s DNA, inserted into a donated egg, implanted in a surrogate).

No males needed.

The cloned dogs not only have the coat pattern of the deceased Missy, but they also share her eccentricities, like barking at people wearing hats, loving to eat broccoli, and cowering away from house cats.

I was in the background having lunch with Lou, and learning how far China and Korea have come with therapeutic stem cell research. It reminded me of the clone farms of Argentina, which I saw four years ago.

Meanwhile, this cute clone was endearing herself to everyone in the office. Action shot by Nora.

  1. Nice! Let’s clone me next with a bit bigger brain.

  2. No males needed. Great. Now there’s nothing stopping my wife from collecting on the life insurance — accidentally of course.

Look at the bright side: this "donated egg, implanted in a surrogate" technology paves the way for outsourcing the, er, product development process, which means that there’s no need to encumber oneself with a wife anymore 😉

  4. This is a pretty rare canine mouth shot! Almost as if the ball was photoshopped in.

  5. Beautiful dog! The added eccentricities are a bonus!

  6. "Repet" he heh heh… =)

    A smartag.

  7. Sounds very boring procreation (or is this better named "replication"?… whatsoever) without males.
