Vern built this gorgeous project from scratch, a 1/16 scale Saturn V rocket sporting a cluster of five motors. He brought it to Kansas from his prefect in Wisconsin.

  1. does she have multiple stages? and did she returned or crashed?

  2. Not this one… I have seen a bigger one with three stages and 11 motors… but alas, it ran into some mishap when the booster cato’d and they discovered their adhesive foam was flammable….

This bird, on the other hand, had a perfect flight. She flew straight as an arrow and softly deployed the massive parachutes at apogee.

  3. That is one gorgeous project.

  4. Here is even a bigger one then the one steve is talking about http://www.rocketsmagazine.com/saturn-v-project/Main.html

  5. A great project!

Hmmm… Sounds like a good time to bring back the Russian N1 for a drag race!

Both have 3 stages, and the N1 has the glory of 43 motors:

  6. You could play a nice prank with such a baby. Make the LES functional and when everyone expects the main engines lighting up do a pad abort. 🙂
