The “Right Wing Rocketry” clan from Missouri prepare their “Prom Date” project for her debut out at the high power pads.

Her rocket backpack contains the flight computer and parachute. The motor is, well, you’d have to look up her dress…

It was a surreal scene next to a project borrowed from an Oklahoma museum, and another prepped by a team of female rocket scientists.

See below for a photo & video of her flight on a K550 motor (the same one that took my Firestorm54 rocket supersonic, albeit with a bit less drag =)

  1. And then… she is en fuego! Looking at the video frames, I see why the flight ended so soon. The parachute deployed right after launch, and was dragged along for the ride. It’s amazing that the structure did not disintegrate… Video:

    I’m just the spectator…. =)

  9. Steve, you should put a fake pie on a rocket and call it
    Pie in the Sky!

…or how a pesky, but necessary protection accoutrement can spoil the enjoyment when one is trying to join the mile-high club

That’s a lot of Drag. Is it a boy under there??

  13. a male dummy in the dress would have created way more drag

  14. Nice. There should be a caution sign set up saying: Prom! Danger! Keep away, women in heat to woo men.

  15. So, did she use two parachutes that deployed out of her, uh, oh never mind….

    ;~)°

  16. Wish I’d been close enough to get a good shot of her like that, but I was stuck in the spectator area.
Same group did "Shotgun Wedding" this year! It was fun!
