Gary Hamel’s MLab group just sent us a nice book that captured the paper cocoon of ideas that we wrapped around us.

It’s funny trying to reconstruct the conversation from the stream of seemingly salient bullet points. (And I guess I just can’t stop thinking about ants, ever since I read Gödel, Escher, Bach)

Here, I was trying to unpack my comment that the role of upper management is to tune the parameters of communication.

In my diagram, ants^n > sum(ants)

We have the opportunity to run some experiments with the 55K employees of HCL in India, so that was the far right column.

  1. Check out E.O. Wilson’s work on the genomic links to social behavior in ants. Not sure you have read the work, but the chemical communications inherent in their genomics has an interesting relationship to their self-organizational behavior of the social group.

  2. Intriguing. Will the ideas or results be made available in a more easily digestible form?

  3. yes… I posted my thoughts here and I think MLab had detailed text somewhere.

P.S. Cool new research in SEED on this topic
