Mark Dery, in BBC / Illumination’s "TX : Pandaemonium", compared Pauline to Rotwang from Metropolis, whose glove implied the hand within was "withered or disfigured in some unspeakable accident". Seeing Pauline operate a vicious robot wielding a huge blade on an extendable arm, using his reconfigured hand on the remote control, and slash it rather too closely to Dery’s throat, made for entertaining tv…
I think I’m right in saying that Joe Rosen used to be a sculptor before becoming a surgeon, and once said that flesh was the best medium for an artist "because it heals"… and he was the one who repaired Pauline’s hand.
