I just had to post the photo when I received this email:
“I told my son about the new lego parts you saw at Makerfaire, and he immediately got on the web, checking google and youtube for any news of this new lego innovation. after about 30 minutes, he said it’s not real, since he couldn’t find a single mention.”

The LEGO person at our GeekDad Booth said that this was the only version around, so perhaps it was a sneak peek… Has anyone seen this stuff mentioned before?

The rigid metal beams are a big step forward for the FIRST robot competitions. I asked about backward compatibility, and he showed me how the white plastic fixture (marked above) interfaces with the standard LEGO Technic parts.

Strange factoid: LEGO makes more tires than any company on Earth.

The Internet generation, they will ask us how we lived without the internet and the cellphones. "Was there Life before them?"

Btw… isn´t that robot you posted about in the pic on Mirror Self Recognition, that you had made with your son and we spent sometime figuring out the robot’s program loop to make it work and follow the track?? (or something?)

  2. I had a hard time convincing someone that Java was originally an island located between Sumatra and Bali, because if you Google it you come up with nothing but the programming language and maybe coffee. The web is re-writing history, and not always in a good way.

  3. cool. Any photos or diagrams yet?

@Alieness: the new one is a bigger, badder, metal machine…
