The flowers were jumping me.
I think it’s just that they are quite a bit closer to me than the rest of the bunch, and thus a bit out of focus. Another possibility is if the auto-align in Photomatix saw some drift there, as this is an HDR compilation of three hand-held shots (no tripod).

These flowers covered my window in LA, very feminine and brings back the LA memories. I think straight men should like flowers more then women do. I wonder, why is it that in the US it seams allmost inapropriate to give flowers to a man. In Europe men give flowers to men for birthday with no problem.
