It’s good to be back. What a fun trip it’s been…

I went back to my notes from breakfast with Barack, as they seem relevant to the recent turn of events:

“I am a risky proposition. If you ask who will likely win the election, I’d consider myself still an underdog. The press may not think so, but I do. But the upside is enormous. The way the race is emerging, it’s between me and Hillary. In her attack on my experience, she is saying ‘I know how things are done. I can manage the existing system.’ I am saying the system needs to change. That’s my pitch. If you agree that more of the same is not sufficient, then I am your best bet. If the status quo is manageable, then you have other choices.”

“This will be a sequential race, like it was for Kerry in the primary. It’s all up for grabs in the early states. Democratic primary voters are not inspired by Hillary, but they respect her. I do better with Independents and Republicans. With Hillary, the Democrats know what they are going to get. They are not yet sure if they can hand me the keys to the car.”

And from an earlier dinner event, responding to a question on his qualifications and experience:

“Look, I’ve been on the national scene for two years. People in Washington think nothing outside Washington counts. I’m applying for the most powerful job on Earth, and in case you didn’t notice I’m a 45 year old black guy. So there are some hurdles to be overcome. Experience is a proxy for judgment. Sometimes the experienced have bad judgment. No one has a better resume than Dick Cheney. At every stage there are a set of hurdles. I like clearing hurdles.”

  1. You crack me up. I ban your account, so you sign up for a new one and try to throw me with the married female bit. Give it up. On the internet, everyone knows you are possessed.

You still reference treason and your 7 months of research. Are you actually trying to fool me? You even misspell my name the same way!

No, I have no interest in politics, but I find a peculiar interest in Obama. Obama. Remember what the photo up top is about?

As for the Clinton run in this race, you can see my first impressions here:

Fireside Chat Don’t be dissin’ Hillary

So please stop jumping to conclusions about me, and please, get some help from a friend or professional.

  2. you’re funny. I like you. But you need to let other opinions flow. Try not to comment twice in a row. Keep the "no more comments from me" promise, at least until *somebody* replies to what you say. otherwise, it is possible that they are not interested, or that you will turn your audience away by talking too much and overwhelming them.

  3. Listen to the power outlets. Follow the white rabbit. Shhhhh…. gotta run now. knock knock…

  4. just happened across this one while reviewing some older comments. reading & trying to comprehend that thread makes a text on diffEQ seem like pleasure reading. steve, you surely have got some patience!

  5. aeroculus: I was trying to have fun with him, but he absorbs the jokes as reality. I never thought psychosis was so malleable, and I’m starting to think it’s not something to play around with…. although it’s so tempting to explore how far the rabbit hole can go.

Bob Clinton – please do set up your own blog and let it all out. But I’ll have to delete you again if you keep polluting this page, which is for a discussion of Obama, remember, not Clinton. Imagine if some yahoo was going on and on about the Nixon administration. This is not the place for it. Last warning… again…

  6. I agree…while it started out amusing, I did find myself starting to get a bit worried the more I read.

  7. FYI, your photo appears on associatedcontent.com and you are not given credit:

  8. mjacoby1973 [deleted] and you think this country has "gone up" morally spiritually and economically during the 8 years of Bush/Chaney? If you do I wonder who is brainwashed?

Of course you will not read this since you started an account just to say your piece and then deleted the account (attack and run) …. but I bet one of your other persona’s will. If so I would like an answer please.

Seen in my recent comments. (?)

  9. meanwhile, it just gets stranger…

  10. those are hysterical… and so even handed in their humor that they might even be considered non-partisan. Though I would still vote for that cool black guy in sunglasses, looks a little more dependable under pressure!

Is it possible for you to post this in Surviving?

  16. thanks!

I have been pleased to see the libertarian Republicans voting for Obama. For the folks I know, it’s their first time to break from the GOP.

  17. Hi, I’m an admin for a group called Surviving 78!!! days, 3 days til Election!, and we’d love to have this added to the group!

  21. Hi, I’m an admin for a group called restaurant-murals, and we’d love to have this added to the group!

  23. The AP is claiming a copyright infringement on their image being used for the Obama "Hope" poster:

    http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D9652OD01&show_artic...

I always thought that the poster was drawn up based upon this photo of yours.

  24. Oh, ha, good point about the similar expressions. The AP swooping in with its claim is like some kind of parody of the operation of our brutally corporatized intellectual property law – as if the photographer’s not recognizing the similar expression for months wasn’t amusing enough. (Someone should do a search for news photos with this and similar expressions – might be an enlightening exercise.)

(And looking back at my initial comment in this thread – I’m pleased with how things turned out!)

  25. Caitlinburke – Roger that!

Yelnoc – thanks for the heads up. I asked Lessig how it all came about:

  26. Wonder! Yours Barack Obama on the Primary is Wow for me.Thanks for post.

  27. Love this picture. Wonder what he’s thinking? Thanks for sharing. I used on my blog for an article about Obama’s Bank Reforms. I attributed you at the bottom. Thanks.

  28. The "dog president" speaks!

  29. The first president that seems to care after people’s health and poverty and you call him a dog? I hope you look smarter then you are jlallred. How can a non 3rd world country wait till 2010 for a decent health insurance? The idea of having one that benefits only the insurance companies itselves and constantly say : "no, can’t help you!", would be enough reason to start riots on this side of the ocean lol.

  30. TiTiMo,

We have decent health insurance. Through private means. 85% of Americans have haelth insurance, and no one can be turned away from Emergency Rooms, regardless of ability to pay. We have access to a greater variety of care, drugs, cutting edge procedures and shorter wait times for operations than countries with socialized medicine. Your from a small realitively homogenous country. My state has a population more than two times larger than your entire country. Your social safety-net is already in tatters, what with your near negative population growth and retireing baby boomers, I hope your stagnant country enjoys paying the bills that are comming due. There is a big difference between Americans and our cousins in Europe, your vitality has waned. Also, Barack is worse than a dog. He is a dog with fleas.

  31. Excellent photo and we’d love to have it added to: Democrats Unite http://www.flickr.com/groups/democrats_unite/ and any other photo that fits the scope of our group.

    Thanks

    David

  32. Congrats for this photo. We like this shot so much. One more time Bravo to you. Lord jeux flash
