Holden: The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can’t. Not without your help. But you’re not helping.
Leon: WHAT DO YOU MEAN, I’M NOT HELPING?
Holden: I mean you’re not helping! Why is that, Leon?
[Leon has become visibly shaken]
Holden: They’re just questions, Leon… they’re written down for me. It’s a test, designed to provoke an emotional response. Shall we continue?

  1. Wouldn’t the time it takes for monkey to learn to lift the leash off the top of the stick be measured in nanoseconds? Even baby monkey?

  2. That perplexed me too. Why was he bound by such a simple system?

  3. Maybe staying attached is a trick that has been proven to result in more sticky rice (or whatever that is).

  4. maybe the spectacle of those pungent animist sex parties is so fascinating that it makes captivity a real pleasure? *

  5. maybe the monkey assumes the leash is permanent because previous "training" had the leash solidly attached to it’s stick….so now it’s doesn’t try anymore… like they train elephants with the rope around their legs…

  6. I agree with Leino. He has been tricked into believing that he cannot escape. Maybe he is just dumb.

  7. Maybe the stick is longer/taller that is appears in this downward shot.
    Maybe its like 4ft tall

Or maybe this is just a lazy monkey

  8. My guess is this monkey is taken for walks on his leash quite often and then "hitched" to this post the same way that horses are hitched. Somewhat domesticated.

  11. If he wanted to escape, he wouldn’t even have to be »intelligent« enough to free the rope from the stick. He could just chew through it. I think most all animals will realize this possibility.

  12. Hello it is Corinne. i love that monkey it is so funny and cute.
