just one of a staggering display of evolved rituals and superstitions

  1. As absurd rituals and superstitions seem to us in our modern world, I often have great respect in the intensity of devotion to a set of ancient beliefs that some people have while still following more evolved ones. Rubbing the belly is a harmless ritual if you understand why and how it started. Just like understanding the way a myth begins and evolves.

In any case, I have fun noticing the radio/tape recorder under the Buddha. He must be so happy.

  2. Was the tape recorder playing Buddhist chants?

  3. I’m pretty sure it was playing »Smells like teen spirit«.

  4. rituals and superstitions do not excite me much either… Buddhism has a few interesting ideas in terms of personal growth, I like mostly Zen… I would not last a day as a practicing Buddhist…
