What is up with the perspective in this shot? The chap in the plaid looks like a giant compared to the guy in gray. Or are they really just that physically different?

If the floor tile squares are 10-12" in size, then that would put the guy in gray 3-5′ away from the guy in plaid (who is also leaning forward a bit). That combined with the exif data on the photo saying that the focal length is 6mm, I would say it is an optical thing. (likewise seen by the relative size changes in the cameras)
