My first test shot with a new 12MP wide-angle pocket camera (hand-held, automatic mode, no edits).

It has a larger sensor and lens barrel than my earlier pocket cams, and seems to do a decent job with light capture and optical Image Stabilization.

Like my photo mentor Victor, I have come to prefer a wide-angle lens for most shots, especially when I’m off on pirate duties.

Yarrr!

  2. I also love wide-angle. Nice shot! I see a few rare coloured leaves.

So this is how the Foothills Park is getting ready for Halloween! Good idea. Are you home or still in China?

  3. gotta go check that pirate ship out…I’ve always wondered about that bridge

  4. I saw then tearing it down while biking yesterday… I guess it was for the weekend only…. and now they are back to plundering

  5. I hope you had a nice time and learned a lot!
Today, I am packing to move and I changed age.

  6. Wide angle is where it’s at for a snapshot camera. I don’t like the image processor in my Lumix FX-01 under low light. Wish it had raw capture. Maybe I’ll get one of the new Canons.

  7. Fun shot. Happy Haloween!

  8. Ricoh just announced their GR Digital II which I am eager to check out. I agree with going with wide angle as much as possible. I am seriously considering the Canon G9 although I’m wondering if the G10 will come up with a wider angle lens.

Seen on your photo stream. (?)

  9. beautiful water and color !!!
