My son successfully launched his Telstar Logistics epoxy+milled-fiber-hardened Initiator with this cool Red Bee GPS RF transmitter (he got a kick testing it by running around the playa and tracking his speed and path… like the dotted line in the Family Circus cartoons).

Tom picked up the signal (courtesy of the Mavericks Ham Radio license) and used the satellite Internet link to trace the rocket’s 3D path in real time on Google Earth in the flight ops trailer.

Did you record it ? I am very curious to see how it looks like =)

  2. It’s so cool that I actually got to see that rocket when we met, Steve! I’m so glad it successfully launched. I can totally envision that dotted line you described as being like the Family Circus cartoon in my mind.

  3. just jammin’
    sweet

Rocketeer: Yes! She flew two perfect flights. More to come later.

PhotonQ: I’ll see if Tom has a copy. It’s fun to zoom in and spin around the flight path in 3D

  4. this is just about as fun as it comes, short of riding in one.
