Being near the launch pad affords a great perspective from below…
both visual and acoustic.

Golden showers courtesy of fhe AMW Skidmark M motor in Vern’s gorgeous Star Fire rocket.

The rocket is looking back with a video cam as it rises, and is designed to deploy a fleet of high-res cameras at apogee.

Here’s a collection of my rocket launch photos.

  1. Perfect flight!! Amazing view…

  2. WOUHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA this is amazing !!!! The colors and the "starDustTexture" Exelant

  3. Fire shower and black smoke. Cool.

  4. Great effect on that motor exhaust. What kind of "carbon footprint" are you emitting with that kind of motor? Al Gore would be upset if he saw this… hehe…

  5. Very interesting shot. Is this a generic pattern produced by a rocket exhaust?

Re: the above comment, I wonder whether carbon offsetting has been considered?

  6. , based on this posting also by Steve, I would say he’s more than made up for his carbon footprint with offsetting.

  7. Edge published a VERY (as always) interesting "Edge Special Event at Eastover Farm " on "life" :
    EDGE.ORG-LIFE: WHAT A CONCEPT! [8.27.07]

I came across this interview of CraigVenter that may interest some of you too :

Video/interview Riz Khan -Human Genome DNA CraigVenter – 10 Sept 07

    Good exploration ; )

Sorry about the "out of topic", but i thought it would be more usefull for the "sharing". And allow more people to discover it..

  8. The "Skidmark M"…

    Hahahahahahaaa….

  9. Fabulous shower! I know the sound was intense!

(PhOtOn: Good links, especially the EDGE piece.)

  13. @Steve. About craigVenter and his reserch..

I just saw his upcoming book :

A Life Decoded: My Genome: My Life by J. Craig Venter , was in pre-order

I took the time today to finish reading all my "waiting read" about his latest work. (among them : The first publication of a diploid human genome from one person, and, The First Bacterial Genome Transplantation).

It just blew my mind one more time !
(I took the time to make a picture this time on himself and his work. As a personal "homage" for such a great mind =)

"It sure is a blast working with him."
    I am sure it is.
Such humans can only be wonderful and powerful mind blowing sources. They are (should be) inspiration for younger generations…

Hope you ll find a lot of beauty and discoveries to his side !
As for myself and probably a lot of people..his work is already a great source of wonder, dreams, excitements, discovery, and exemple for our own life.
I hope, i ll try, to meet him one day, and thanks him for his work and inspiration =)

  14. No "Hedge" reference Steve, although there is a good scene in the film that is reminiscent of this!

You called the engine the "AMW Skidmark M" according to the caption. I was justing having a giggle…. =]
