I just got off the “phone” with Tom deep in the Black Rock Desert. The Skype-over-satellite connection is much better than what we had before (a Globalstar sat phone for calling in the FAA launch waivers).

Soon, I should have a live video feed from the playa.

They are prepping a third Loki N motor to cross-test twelve new flight computers. (Here is a video of the symphony of status signals)

Should give a good wake up call to the Burning Man campers on the playa… 😉

  1. Sweet! Where are they camped? I’ll be out there on monday.

  2. Launch Site B I believe… many miles farther in than the Burning Man camp (they want a 50 mile splash zone for reentry…)

GPS coordinates are probably at rocketmavericks.com
I’ll double check with Major Tom on the next connect…

  3. Vint mentioned Skype a lot in the conference… (as epitome of "instant messaging", "chat", VoIP… "voice/video" connections) Didn´t mention any other similar application.

It´s all about the CTC (Curled Thumbs Clan) I believe. =)

  4. Would be good fun with a guide to how to set something like that up, are they using BGAN?

  5. Did anyone really say that sky should be a limit?

  6. or as we say in rocketry:
Shoot for the sky, and try not to miss
