I have never felt a building rumble like that
(large)
Wow! That is so cool! I’d love to watch a shuttle take off up close like this!
Sweet….
Must be awesome to witness a launch at close range first-hand.
(I’ve had NASA TV going in the background at work all day today – the launch was first thing this morning Sydney time.)

That must have been fun to see! 1/6400 sec seems like a really fast exposure. (I’m curious as to why the sky looks so dark, if this happened in the middle of the afternoon.)
Excellent shot. The rumble was more intense than the visuals, too bad flickr doesn’t have a subwoofer output.
I was just looking at NASA’s photos, and yours are better. Hopefully they come over here and steal yours.
Wish I had driven the five or six hours to get down there (although you always gamble on cancellation) — especially when I saw it on television, with that beautiful fire and light. I was just hoping some flickrite would capture it — and you did so beautifully. What a great shot!

You are my winner!

Actually there is a new flickr tool call "rumbleR" ; that allow you, when you get inside, to feel the "vibrations" of the picture, by watching through the transparant window 😛
As you can see…mostly cats seems to have been chosen as the first cobay lol.
the rumble as you put it steve is for the most part unrecordable with a mic it’s that super-cool low low frequency band
truly amazing…
great capture,, thanks for sharing…..all i seen was a little dot from jetty park
Awesome shot, reminds me of when I saw one go 10 years ago.

Looks just like a picture we would see on the news!! Simply great.
You mentioned the rumble. Once we were at Disney in the hotel and the news reporter stated the sonic boom would be sounding any second. We opened the patio door and within seconds we heard it. Begin from Kentucky that was a thrill!
I am not fooled! This is one of Steve Jurvetson’s model rockets! I can see the wires!
Oh, and I finally uploaded the launch video. The videocam was sitting on a solid balcony of a five-story building. It takes a few seconds for the sound of the launch to reach us, but then the camera vibration catches the feeling better than any soundtrack can. Your whole body shakes from the rumble.
