  2. Is that half way down the hairpin bends over the mountain? I think I went there as a 14 year old.. I recall it being very very pretty! Is there a huge, very old tree there as well?

  3. Beautiful arbor and nice caption. Thanks for sharing.

  4. thanks…

@mrmanc: it’s just before the tunnel to Soller (before the tunnel, it would a hair pin path over the mountain)

  5. Thanks for that Steve, strange how memories stick with you. I lost a pencil case that I’d just made in school on that holiday in a cafe somewhere to the north of the island, near a big train station.

I bet the locals are glad for the tunnel.. doing all those turns in a very hot rented banger made one rather queasy.

  6. Hi, I’m an admin for a group called mediterranean climate garden, and we’d love to have this added to the group!

  7. This photo was taken in the Alfabia gardens and as someone has already said, the gardens are near the southern end of the tunnel to Soller, on the Ma-11 road from Palma, Mallorca. Here’s a link to the Alfabia website…

They are well worth a visit.

In this shot you are looking along a pergola with hidden fountains each side. You can press a button at the top end and catch the unwary tourist with an unplanned shower!
