    Empty churches create no extraordinary environments such as this any more than empty Intel buildings can create microchips. Years from now active Intel buildings will still not be destinations of wonderment and awe.

  6. Not sure I understand…. This medieval jewel is an extraordinary environment, and Intel buildings are not – I think we would agree.

    But the Intel building conveyed much more to humanity than this building ever will.

    And on the other side of the cost-benefit analysis ledger, it’s hard to fathom how much it has retarded progress with misplaced symbolic awe.

  7. And I think you’ll agree that empty Intel buildings create no awe nor humanity enhancements and thus fall short in comparison to your wonderful photo. The fullness of either structure would account for what followed. As to the retardation of progress, perhaps you can suggest some non retarded cultures that accomplished more.
